The Peoples Bank was chartered on January 4, 1952 by W.L. Stevens, Talmadge Hendley, T.C. Perkins, S.T. Bragdon & E.R. Smith and originally occupied a brick corner building on what was known as Railroad Street in Willacoochee, Georgia.
In 1986 two adjoining buildings were purchased and a major renovation took place at the bank, with the addition of new offices and a drive thru teller. Later there was another major addition that added another drive thru lane and additional office space.
Our Pearson office was opened for business in the Spring of 1991. Our Pearson Branch office is located on the north side of Pearson on Hwy 441. This branch has already had three major renovations; one in 1994 with the addition of new offices and another addition was completed in 2001 that increased the office space, customer service, and loan department. In 2011 we completed our third renovation of the bank by updating the interior and adding office space. We also added dedicated customer parking and new landscaping to improve customer access. The Pearson Branch also has a three lane drive thru teller.
In 2008 the bank was honored by being listed as No. 8 of top performing S -Corporations with assets under One Hundred Million.
Both branches offers a wide array of banking products and services to meet the varied and numerous needs of customers within our trade area. Convenience and customer service are important to The Peoples Bank. We, as a part of our community, make every effort to meet the ever changing needs of the residents of Atkinson County. The bank will strive to remain a locally owned community bank, with our main objective being to provide our customers with a safe depository offering banking services with courteous friendly service. 2009 will mark another milestone as we offer internet banking for our customers. The first bank in our county to do so.
